The Start-up Programme is designed to help creative industries entrepreneurs to plan and launch their business. Through our network of in-house specialists and external partners Creativebias can offer you help to:
- Research and plan your business
- Find and raise start-up funding
- Protect your creative ideas and intellectual property rights
- Develop management skills
- Develop a website
- Develop e-marketing skills
- Access key markets, find customers and make sales
In addition to a range of FREE specialist workshops and seminars, you can also benefit from:
- the use of IT facilities and training in Creative Industries technologies at our BitBiz IT Suite,
- 24/7 access from the convenience of your home or work-place to information and advice through a free subscription to our Online Help Centre
- discounted rates on trade events, city-centre meeting and seminar rooms, and our secure Arts Village mailbox service
You may also qualify for a Launch award of £250 when you successfully start your business.
Since its launch in March 2003, our Start-Up programme has helped well over 200 new creative businesses to launch, including record labels, recording and rehearsal studios, music and video production, graphic design, art agencies and galleries, a multimedia design company, fashion labels, designer-makers and many, many more!
To be eligible for the Start-up Programme, your business must be:
- Pre-start (not yet trading or, if 'test-trading', not yet registered with HM Revenue and Customs)
- A potentially viable business, capable of surviving at least 18 months
- Within the Creative Industries sector (specifically: music, performing arts, fashion, design, visual arts or crafts)
- Based (and committed to remaining) on Merseyside
We particularly welcome applications from individuals who are either: Women, Individuals from black and minority ethnic groups (BME), Residents of disadvantaged communities (such as EU-designated "Pathways" areas on Merseyside), Long-term unemployed (6 months or more), or final year students or recent graduates (up to 5 years) of LIPA or LJMU School of Art and Design.
